Found a farmer down the road selling 55 Gallon Drums for cheap. I bought a couple and made a BBQ Pit out of them. Then I thought I’d use one for a dust bin to empty my ShopVac into when it gets full. I had a 5 gallon bucket lid made out of plastic that I bought from one of th big box stores which was cyclone dust separator. Problem was that the bucket filled up too quickly and was too weak to handle the pressure of my 6 HP 16 gallon ShopVac, so it buckled all the time. I wanted to turn the 55 gallon drum into a cyclone separator so I bought an extra vacuum hose and a plastic elbow.

It works fantastic. I used it all day today sucking up a lot of dust but the best thing about it is that since the great majority of the dust stays in the 55 gallon drum, there’s virtually no loss of suction power. That was another problem I had with the 5 gallon bucket….
